Punjabi actress Sonam Bajwa, who made her Telugu debut with the song sequence in Babu Bangaram and the film Atadukundam Raa, recently shared insights about a challenging phase in her early career. She spoke about the dilemmas she faced performing intimate lip-kiss scenes and how it affected her decision-making.
“During the start of my career, I turned down several Hindi film offers because they involved kissing scenes. I constantly wondered how Punjabi audiences would perceive me, what family viewers might think, and whether my family would understand that it’s purely acting,” Sonam revealed in a recent interview.
She added that when she finally shared her concerns with her parents, their response surprised her. “‘It’s for the sake of the film, right? What’s the problem in that?’ they said casually. I was shocked and wondered why I hadn’t discussed this with them before. All my fears vanished instantly,” Sonam recalled.
Currently, Sonam Bajwa is gearing up for the release of the Hindi romantic drama Ek Diwane Ki Deewaniyat, co-starring Harshvardhan Rane, scheduled for October 21. Having last appeared in a Telugu film in 2016, she is now busy with multiple projects in Punjabi and Hindi cinema.
