Despite mixed reports, Telugu action drama Skanda, featuring Ram Pothineni and Sree Leela in the lead roles, took strong openings in Andhra and Telangana on its opening day. The Boyapati Srinu directional, which hit the screens on Thursday, secured a career-best opening for Ram with 8.62 Crores share on day one.
Skanda took a solid opening in Naizam, the biggest territory for Tollywood, with 3.23 Crores share. This is the biggest share in Ram’s career in a single area. The mass elements in teasers and trailers ensured impressive footfalls in this region. The next biggest area for mass films, Ceeded saw a strong haul on the first day with 1.22 Crores.
In Vizag area, Skanda took a good opening with 1.29 Crore share. The film notched up 1.04 Crores in Guntur district. The area-wise collections are furnished below.
In USA, Skanda took a below-par opening with $ 101K from its premieres. This is the second biggest opening for Ram there after Vunnadi Okkate Zindagi.
On the whole, Skanda grossed around 18 Crores on first day. Considering the genre and the timing of the release, this is a solid opening. The first-weekend run is very important for the film to break even.
