Actress Shweta Basu Prasad, renowned for her role in the hit Telugu film Kotha Bangaru Lokam, recently spoke candidly about her career journey, revealing some personal challenges she faced during her time in the industry.
In a recent interview, Shweta shared an unpleasant experience on a Telugu movie set where she faced body-shaming due to her height. She explained that the entire cast and crew would mock her, especially in comparison to the lead actor. “While the hero was much taller, I was just 5 feet, and that became a point of ridicule,” Shweta stated.
The actress also mentioned how the lead actor’s repeated changes to the script and his difficulty with dialogues further complicated her experience on set. “Though my Telugu wasn’t perfect, I managed to learn the dialogues and perform. However, the actor, despite being a native Telugu speaker, struggled with the language, and yet, I was criticized for something beyond my control—my height,” she added.
Shweta began her career at the age of 11 as a child artist in Makdee and entered Telugu cinema with Kotha Bangaru Lokam in 2008. She later starred in several successful films such as Ride, Kasuko, Kalavar King, Priyudu, and Genius. After her last Telugu film Vijetha in 2018, she shifted her focus to Hindi films and television.
