Conducting elections for the biggest democracy in the world is a monumental task. The Election Commission of India, a key constitutional body of the country, is empowered with the duty to conduct elections in a fair and transparent manner. But, there has always been a debate over the biased nature of the ECI for its alleged propensity towards some political parties in our country.
Now, South filmmaker Shankar Shanmugam wants to highlight the flaws in the Electoral System of India through his upcoming film, which has Ram Charan in the lead role. Tentatively titled RC15, the film has Charan playing dual roles – as an upright Civil Servant and an old politician. Shankar is well known for coming up with stories that present social issues plaguing our country since independence. Previously, he took up issues like corruption and black money. Now, he wants to address the system of elections in RC15.
Charan plays an honest IAS officer who is entrusted with the job of overseeing elections in a controversial constituency. How handles this important job forms the core narrative of the film. Shankar’s script is laced with a preachy social message and a good dose of commercial elements like his previous films.
The makers are considering a couple of interesting titles like CEO, Senani, and Senapathi for this film. The first look poster and title will be unveiled on March 27th on the eve of Ram Charan’s birthday. The film is slated for release in January next year. Dil Raju is bankrolling this film and Kiara Advani is the female lead.
