Ahmed Shehzad Fires Back at Shadab Khan
Former Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad slammed all-rounder Shadab Khan for comments made during the T20 World Cup 2026. Shehzad called Shadab’s remarks disrespectful toward cricket legends like Shahid Afridi and Mohammad Yousuf.
The Controversial Comments
After Pakistan’s loss to India, Shadab faced heavy criticism from ex-players questioning his place in the team. He responded by pointing out that his squad defeated India in the 2021 World Cup – something those legends never achieved.
“You Came Through the Back Door”
Shehzad exploded during a live TV debate: “Ek to aap chor raastey se aaye ho (You came in through the back door). You’re not a domestic cricket regular or consistent performer, yet you keep getting selected. Hasan Ali lost his central contract but you didn’t – that’s favoritism!”
Respect Your Elders
The 2010 T20 champion challenged Shadab’s comparison to 90s-era teams: “Those players dominated India despite World Cup losses. Just because seniors criticized you, don’t forget their support. Learn to respect your elders!”
Mohammad Amir’s Harsh Advice
Ex-pacer Mohammad Amir also blasted Shadab: “Tour criticism is normal. You’ve no right to complain – I used it as motivation. If you’re not performing, keep your mouth shut and let your game talk.”
World Cup Update
Pakistan recovered from their 61-run loss to India with a win against Namibia, advancing to the Super 8 stage. They’ll face New Zealand next in Colombo.
