New Delhi: The Supreme Court has decided to defer the hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Kadapa YSRCP MP YS Avinash Reddy in connection with the YS Viveka murder case. The court has slated the next hearing for February, withholding the specific date. Last year, on May 31, the Telangana High Court granted anticipatory bail to Avinash Reddy. However, this decision was contested by Viveka’s daughter, Sunitha, who brought the matter to the Supreme Court on June 9.
A notice was issued to Avinash by the Supreme Court on June 19, setting off a series of hearings. The case was initially heard on July 18 and then on September 11 of the same year. The Supreme Court bench emphasized the need for an in-depth examination of the case. However, since then, there has been no further inquiry. Despite the Supreme Court’s computer-generated list initially indicating trial dates for January 16, 17, and 18, the matter was not addressed on the specified days.
During today’s proceedings, YS Sunitha’s lawyer, Siddhartha Luthra, brought the matter to the attention of the Supreme Court bench, seeking disclosure of the upcoming inquiry dates. In response, a bench led by Justice Sanjiv Khanna announced that the petition would be heard in February, with specific dates anticipated to be disclosed in the coming days.
