In an unexpected development, the release date of Prabhas’ long-awaited action spectacle Salaar has been deferred due to unknown reasons. As speculations are rife in media with different versions over the sudden postponement, the suspense over the release date continues all over in industry circles.
As we await an official announcement, it is reliably heard that the makers of Salaar are pondering over an ideal release date. They are considering two upcoming festivals to release the first part ‘Salaar Cease Fire’. Reportedly, the film might arrive in theatres either for Diwali or Pongal. The team is currently looking for a perfect date as many other big-ticket Bollywood and Tollywood releases are slated for release during the two festivals.
Salman Khan’s much anticipated commercial entertainer Tiger 3 is eyeing Diwali weekend. Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki is tentatively scheduled for release in November or December. Telugu films like Guntur Kaaram and Naa Saami Ranga are aiming to hit the screens for Sankranthi. A bunch of small and medium-budget films from Telugu and Hindi are slated for release in November.
So, an official announcement from Salaar will shuffle the release dates of some of these films. No doubt, Salaar will take an earth-shattering opening at the box office irrespective of when it hits the screens. But, it should be not at the expense of other films that have already locked their release plans.
Moreover, Salaar has thwarted the release plans of other films because many of them have moved to a later date when Prashanth Neel locked September 28th long ago. Now, they have postponed it just three weeks before its release which is a monumental blunder.
They should at least announce the new release date well in advance so that others can plan their releases accordingly.
