The CBI’s seizure of a 25,000-kg container of drugs in Visakhapatnam has sparked a political controversy, igniting a verbal clash between the TDP and YSRCP. N Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP chief, expressed shock over the large drug seizure at Visakhapatnam port, alleging non-cooperation from the state police and port officials, insinuating involvement of the ruling party. He accused the YSRCP leadership of possibly bringing in drugs for electoral purposes. In response, Andhra Pradesh government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy condemned Naidu’s remarks, questioning his sanity and accusing TDP leaders of baseless accusations against the YSRCP.
He suggested TDP and BJP leaders’ potential involvement in the drug trade, pointing out connections between Purandeswari’s relatives and a related company, which her son was a partner in. Sajjala clarified that they had since disassociated from the company they initially promoted, implying TDP leaders’ complicity in the matter. Sajjala further refuted TDP’s accusations against him, while Vijaysai Reddy tweeted about the alleged involvement of Nara Lokesh and Chandrababu Naidu in the drug affair, likening them to unsavory characters.
