Political uproar ignited in Andhra Pradesh by the ruling Telugu Desam party after the former chief minister and YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy failed to hoist the national flag on Independence Day. He confined himself with the message on social media platform X. At the YSRCP headquarters, party leader Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy hoisted the national flag.
He became a center for a political controversy as he was not seen in any other event related to Independence Day on that day. AP Minister for Education and IT Nara Lokesh reacted strongly to the issue and demanded that Jaganmohan Reddy apologize to the country. Lokesh lamented in his tweet that this is not just arrogance, but a grave insult to the country’s freedom struggle.
Commenting on it, Lokesh accused Jaganmohan Reddy of belittling the sacrifices of the great men who laid down their lives for the country. He made it clear that not paying respect to the national flag is an act that hurts their aspirations. Nara Lokesh commented that Jagan’s attitude is insulting the country’s honor.
He demanded that Jaganmohan Reddy should immediately apologize to the people of the country over this incident. He warned that the people will never forget this attitude. Meanwhile, several other TDP leaders also have criticized Jagan for not paying attention to the national festival. TDP leaders allege that Jagan is frustrated with the Pulivendula ZPTC election results, which is why he forgot the national festival.
Terming Jagan’s indifference on Independence Day as a sign of irresponsibility for a leader, they criticized that it is inappropriate for a former Chief Minister to behave like this on a day when patriotism should be displayed. There is also a wide discussion on social media about Jagan’s absence from the Independence Day celebrations.
Analysts believe that this move will cause political damage to the YSR Congress Party. Many are of the opinion that Jagan has brought disrepute to himself by neglecting national festivals. This controversy is likely to lead to more discussion in AP politics in the coming days.
