Kannada actor Rishab Shetty is set to star in Kantara Chapter 1, the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. Directed by Rishab himself, the film is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 2.
Stunt choreographer Arjun Raj revealed that Rishab performed all action sequences without a body double. “Not a single action scene involved a stunt double. He trained in sword fighting, horse riding, and the traditional martial art Kalaripayattu. Despite working with many actors, I have never seen a hero like him. He says, ‘I will try as much as I can… as long as I am alive, I will do this.’ He is an inspiration to many,” Arjun Raj said.
The original Kantara, made on a budget of ₹16 crore, went on to earn over ₹400 crore. Kantara Chapter 1 will explore events leading up to the first film, with a focus on scenes related to the village of Panjurli. Unlike the first film, which released in Kannada before being dubbed, the prequel is set for a simultaneous multi-language release.
