It seems that the Revanth Reddy government has come to an opinion on the conduct of local body elections after making several efforts in New Delhi for three days. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy succeeded in highlighting his concerns over 42 percent BC reservations, on which the bill is waiting for President’s consent. As part of this, the government is likely to announce a key decision on Friday or Saturday.
Telangana Congress leaders have launched a massive protest in Delhi demanding that the Centre approve the BC reservation bill passed and sent by the state assembly. Despite CM Revanth and senior Congress leaders making all out efforts to meet the President seeking approval of the bills, the President has not given an appointment yet.
In this situation, the Telangana government is facing a difficult situation as the state governor has not approved the ordinance and the President has not given his assent to the bills. It is still in suspense what decision the Revanth government is going to take on the issue of BC reservations.
Meanwhile, it seems that the government has taken a middle-of-the-road decision as the promise made to the people and the deadline for local elections set by the High Court, September 30, are approaching. Revanth Reddy also explained that they have three proposals before them on the conduct of local elections in Delhi.
With both avenues closed, party sources are saying that there is a possibility that the Congress party will take a decision towards providing 42 percent reservations. It is learnt that the decision was reached after discussing the same issue with the Congress leaders in Delhi.
The Congress government is thinking of going to the elections saying that the NDA government at the Center is responsible for all the issues like the ordinance with the Governor, the bills pending with the President, and the President not giving appointments, and that the BJP is obstructing them even when they try to provide reservations.
Meanwhile, CM Revanth Reddy alleged that the Telangana society considers both BJP and BRS as BC traitors and anti-BC. He said that while BJP is trying to block BC reservations, BRS is playing the role of a scapegoat.
He said that BRS is trying to cooperate with BJP in any good work that the government is doing to harm the Congress. CM Revanth questioned why BRS is not questioning BJP’s mistakes and why BRS did not participate in the dharna held at Jantar Mantar?
