Hyderabad:Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday made strong allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of yielding to pressure from former US President Donald Trump and prematurely halting the ongoing conflict with Pakistan.
Addressing a public meeting in Nizampet following the ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ organized by the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in Medchal constituency, Revanth Reddy questioned the central government’s handling of the conflict and Modi’s approach to national security.
“We fully supported the central government’s efforts to teach Pakistan a lesson. However, conducting war requires courage, determination, and a sound strategy. Why was the war stopped after just four days? The Prime Minister must explain,” Revanth Reddy demanded.
He criticized the central government for convening an all-party meeting before the war commenced but failing to consult any party while stopping the conflict. The Chief Minister further alleged that Donald Trump openly claimed responsibility for pressuring India to stop the war, and questioned why Modi yielded to such external influence.
“This is a matter of national security, not a personal issue. Should India’s self-respect be compromised due to foreign pressure?” Revanth Reddy questioned sharply.
Recalling the leadership of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he urged Modi to emulate her courage. “Indira Gandhi warned China against aggression and stood firm despite American pressure to halt the war. That is the kind of resolve the people remember and expect today,” he said.
Revanth Reddy also called for giving the Indian military full freedom to deal with Pakistan and reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He recalled the 1971 war, when the Congress government defeated Pakistan.
He asserted that the ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ was organized not for electoral gains but to boost soldiers’ morale and uphold national pride. He also highlighted the need to account for losses such as Rafale jets during the conflict.
Advising the Prime Minister to follow the Indira Gandhi model in handling Pakistan, Revanth Reddy emphasized the necessity of Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and suggested that Modi’s tenure was nearing its end.
The ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ began at Bachupally VNR Vignan Jyothi Engineering College and concluded at the KCR Convention Centre in Hyderabad. The event was attended by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, ministers, MPs, MLAs, senior Congress leaders, and a large number of party workers.
Revanth Reddy also recalled his political journey, highlighting how he overcame a defeat in Kodangal in the 2018 Assembly elections to win as an MP from Malkajgiri within 14 days, later becoming Telangana Congress president and now serving as Chief Minister.
