RC16 – Why Ram Charan accepted the same script rejected by NTR ?

RRR actor Ram Charan is currently busy shooting for his upcoming big-ticket entertainer ‘Game Changer’ in the direction of Shankar Shanmugam. Even before wrapping up this film, Charan is likely to commence work on his next project which is tentatively titled ‘RC16’. Tollywood director Buchi Babu who made a blockbuster debut with Uppena is going to helm this project.

It is a known fact that Buchi Babu initially planned a film with NTR. He readied a script with a dialogue version and narrated it to NTR. However, the project didn’t materialise as NTR was not fully pleased with the story. Later, Buchi Babu narrated the same script to Ram Charan and got approval.

It is quite surprising to note that the script rejected by NTR was accepted by Ram Charan. Both these actors are making ideal moves with respect to their choice of scripts after acquiring pan-India popularity with RRR. So, what is the reason for this contrasting approach? Let’s find out.

Digging into this development, we exclusively heard that NTR was hesitant as it would be risky to attempt a sports drama at this point of his career after RRR. Buchi Babu’s script is about a double amputee who beats all odds and emerges as a successful sportsperson. There will good dose of commercial elements infused into emotional sports drama. The lead protagonist will have a strong and meaty character. So, Ram Charan took the gamble despite NTR’s rejection.

Buchi Babu is very confident that his script has the potential to resonate with pan-India audiences. He has roped in AR Rahman to compose tunes for this film which is expected to go on floors very soon.
