Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s success graph is plummeting to a new low with each release in recent times. Out of his last 12 films, only a couple of them managed to bring cheer for his buyers and all other outings have tanked heavily at the box office, bringing huge disappointment for the trade circles.
Hit films like Krack and Dhamaka are a blip in his flop streak which started a decade ago. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya in which he played a significant supporting role offered some respite as it brought him widespread accolades for his performance. Unfortunately, he failed to capitalize on the newfound box office mojo after this success.
His latest film Eagle, which fizzled out immediately after a decent first weekend, is another addition to the list of debacles for Ravi Teja. The actioner, directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, took a good start despite mixed reports. But, it failed to withstand the moderate reviews and below-par word of mouth. The numbers nosedived drastically from the first Monday and struck a big blow to the team.
Ravi Teja now bagged a hat-trick of flops in less than a year with Ravanasura, Tiger Nageswara Rao, and Eagle. Shockingly, each of these films failed badly than the previous one despite generating adequate buzz with promising trailers and teasers. The string of flops has adversely impacted Ravi Teja’s market. His high remuneration is another cause of concern for his producers. Moreover, the sudden fall in the OTT market is going to further impact his future opportunities.
Up next, Ravi Teja is currently busy shooting for Harish Shankar’s Mr Bachchan. He will need to score a solid hit to sustain for a few more years. Or else, he might need to look for supporting roles to stay relevant in Tollywood.
