Rashmika Mandanna, having breastfed in Kannada cinema and then garnered fame across the nation, is finding her home state briefing against her once again. The actress who delivered back-to-back hits like Animal and Pushpa 2: The Rule has been focusing on Telugu and Hindi films for a while now.
At a promotional event for her next film, Chhaava, Rashmika allegedly made a controversial comment where she stated, “I hail from Hyderabad. I had come alone from there, and now I feel like I belong to your family.” This upset many of the Kannada fans, who expressed their displeasure online.
Karnataka natives were rife in questioning her loyalty and wondering since when she had begun to identify herself as a Hyderabadi. Many blamed her for completely ignoring the Kannada film industry she debuted in and distancing herself on focusing almost solely on Telugu and Hindi films.
This won’t be the first time Kannada audiences have taken potshots at Rashmika. For years, she has attracted trolling for being perceived as an outcast from Sandalwood. Though she continues setting the national screen ablaze, her absence from Kannada films remains an issue that many fans have been sensitive about.
