Manchu Vishnu’s ambitious mythological drama Kannappa is preparing for a big theatrical release on June 27. With the countdown starting officially, the creators have picked up promotional activity across the nation. The trailer of the film was recently launched at a high-level function in Kochi, with Mohanlal attending the event as the chief guest, generating huge hype to the campaign.
Planning to make Kannappa a nationwide hit, Manchu Vishnu is pulling out all stops to reach out to audiences across language barriers. In a calculated promotional exercise targeted at the Tamil audience, Vishnu, in the presence of his father and veteran actor Mohan Babu, met superstar Rajinikanth to screen the film himself.
During a recent meeting, Mohan Babu and Vishnu visited Rajinikanth, not only to meet up but also to show Kannappa to him. The meeting also fell during the 30-year anniversary of Peddarayudu, a movie the two giants did together. Following the viewing of the film, Rajinikanth allegedly hugged Vishnu tightly and complimented the film.
Manchu Vishnu took to social media to share the moment, “Last night, @rajinikanth uncle watched #Kannappa. After the film, he gave me a tight hug. He told me that he loved #Kannappa. I’ve been waiting 22 years as an actor for that hug!!! Today, I feel encouraged. Humbled. Grateful. #Kannappa is coming on 27th June and I can’t wait for the world to feel the magic of Lord Shiva.”
Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa features a stellar ensemble cast that includes Prabhas, Mohanlal, Mohan Babu, Akshay Kumar, Kajal Aggarwal, and Brahmanandam. The film is being touted as one of the most ambitious mythological projects in recent times, with high production values and a spiritually rich storyline centered around Lord Shiva.
