Superstar Rajinikanth shared a personal story from his early struggles while speaking at the trailer launch of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s upcoming action thriller Coolie in Chennai on Saturday. The film, featuring Rajinikanth in a pivotal role, has completed production and is slated for release on August 14.
Recalling the incident, Rajinikanth said he once worked as a porter carrying luggage and was recognized by a former college mate he had previously teased. After carrying the luggage, the man handed him ₹2 and remarked about his past arrogance, leaving Rajinikanth in tears. The actor described it as one of the most painful moments of his life. Praising director Lokesh Kanagaraj, Rajinikanth called him the “real hero” of Coolie and highlighted that the film is an intense drama without punch dialogues.
Actor Aamir Khan, who also plays a significant role, stated that he did not inquire about the story or release date when approached by the director, emphasizing that working on a Rajinikanth film was reason enough to join. The movie also features Nagarjuna, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Mahendran, with music composed by Anirudh. The newly released trailer has heightened anticipation, with audiences praising Lokesh Kanagaraj for creating another distinctive cinematic experience.
