Narsapuram MP K. Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, who recently parted ways with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), officially joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Friday. Despite his aspiration to contest from Narsapuram with a BJP ticket, he was denied the opportunity and instead joined the TDP in the presence of party President N. Chandrababu Naidu at a public rally in Palakollu, West Godavari district.
Expressing gratitude for the support extended by Chandrababu Naidu and the people, Raju highlighted the significance of the TDP’s leadership and anticipated a significant impact from Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan on June 4.
Raghurama Raju’s departure from the YSRCP in February stemmed from his desire to contest on a BJP ticket, which was not fulfilled due to his non-affiliation with the party. Instead, Srinivasa Varma was fielded by the BJP. Chandrababu Naidu welcomed Raju into the TDP fold, emphasizing his five-year-long battle against CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s governance, which he characterized as “dictatorial” and oppressive towards dissent.
Raju’s resignation from the YSRCP in February marked the culmination of his efforts to challenge party President and CM Jagan Mohan Reddy’s authority, with his subsequent move to join the TDP reflecting a strategic shift in his political alignment.
