Puri Jagannadh Encourages Living with a ‘Tourist Mindset’ in Recent Reflection

Tuesday, December 9, 2025
Director Puri Jagannadh, known for his candid philosophical views, recently shared his thoughts on life during a segment of Puri Musings, where he emphasized the transient nature of human existence. According to Puri, life on Earth is akin to being a tourist on a foreign planet, highlighting the fleeting nature of human attachments and possessions.
Puri discussed the concept of material ownership, drawing a parallel to purchasing land on Mars or the Moon. “Just as we wouldn’t invest in property on Mars, knowing we aren’t staying there, we should reconsider our attachment to worldly possessions here,” he explained. He encouraged viewers to reflect on their lives through a “tourist mindset,” emphasizing that nothing in life is permanent.
The director also compared human life to a high-speed roller coaster, where individuals buy property, claim ownership, and accumulate wealth, despite knowing the transient nature of their stay. “We are tourists on this planet, and our stay is temporary. It’s crucial to realize that material possessions and societal attachments are fleeting,” he added.
Puri’s message was clear: live lightly, with minimal attachments. He advised against getting caught up in societal expectations such as marriage or property ownership, suggesting instead that individuals should embrace life as travelers, moving freely without being burdened by the weight of possessions or commitments.
In conclusion, Puri Jagannadh encouraged people to recognize the impermanence of life and to live in the present with a sense of detachment, emphasizing that, like tourists, we are only passing through and should focus on what truly matters.
