Movie name: Psyche Siddhartha
Rating: 2.5/5
Pour:
Nandu, Yamini Bhaskar, Priyanka Rebeka Srinivas, N Simha, Sukesh Reddy and others
director: Varun Reddy

Shyam Sunder Reddy Thudi and Nandu
Release date: January 1, 2026

After a long break, Psyche Siddhartha stars Nandu (who was recently seen in Dhandoraa) in the lead role, with Yamini Bhaskar in the female lead. The film's posters and promos hinted at a crazy, character-driven drama. We'll find out how the film turned out in the following review.

Story:

Siddharth (played by Nandu) is cheated by his girlfriend Trisha (Priyanka Rebeka Srinivas). She betrays him by supporting Mansoor (Sukesh Reddy), who starts a business with Siddharth as his partner. Trisha and Mansoor enter into a relationship and force Siddharth out of the company. After losing all his money, Siddharth rents a small apartment in a poor neighborhood and struggles to even pay his rent.

In the same building, Shrāvya (Yamini Bhaskar) moves into the apartment below him. She recently left her abusive husband after suffering physical and sexual violence. The story focuses on how Siddharth and Shrāvya meet, how their lives change and how they support each other.

performances:

Nandu puts in a serious effort and portrays Siddharth well. He tries to carry the film on his own and does well in several scenes. Yamini Bhaskar delivers a natural and emotionally powerful performance, especially in key moments. Simha N. gives a decent performance as Revanth and Priyanka Rebeka Srinivas suits her role as Trisha.

analysis:

For his directorial debut, Varun Reddy tries to create interesting characters and portray the story with a unique visual style. While some scenes show his potential, he fails to tell the story clearly and effectively.

The idea of two broken people falling in love is not new. But the relationship between the main characters isn't developed well enough to be convincing. They are brought together too quickly without showing a strong emotional connection. Siddharth's pain, heartbreak, and financial problems evoke no sympathy, and his demeanor often feels unnatural.

In contrast, Shrāvya's suffering and vulnerability are portrayed more effectively and resonate better with the audience. Some comedy scenes in the middle work well and provide brief relief.

The opening scenes are drawn out for fun, but end up being irritating. The first half of the film feels weak overall. The second half is better and has more exciting moments, although the last thirty minutes are somewhat okay.

Positive:

  • Nandu and Yamini Bhaskar's performances
  • A few funny moments
  • Crucial scenes in the second half

Negatives:

  • First half
  • Annoying dosage of vulgarity in several scenes
  • Weak emotional impact

Psyche Siddhartha review and verdict:

Overall, “Psyche Siddhartha” offers convincing performances from the main actors and an interesting concept, with some strong scenes in the second half. But the narrative feels incomplete and uneven, leading to an ordinary outcome.
