Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is one of the fewest actors in Tollywood who never shies away from doing versatile characters and multiple genres. Irrespective of the box office verdicts, he always encourages fresh technicians and introduces talented artists through his films.
In 2022, Kalyan Ram introduced a new director Mallidi Vassishta who delivered a blockbuster with the period drama Bimbisara. The film, which revolves around the story of ruthless king from Trigartala kingdom of the bygone era, has Kalyan Ram in the titular role and emerged as a profitable venture at the box office. At that time, both Kalyan Ram and Vassishta announced that they will reunite soon for Bimbisara 2.
On the eve of Kalyan Ram’s birthday today, the prequel to Bimbisara has been announced in style. It is tentatively titled NKR 22 and the scintillating poster features a cavalcade of warriors on elephants. Going by the grand set-up in the poster, Bimbisara 2 will be made on a thumping budget with huge canvas.
As per reports, due to some creative differences, Mallidi Vassishta has walked out from directing the sequel. Bimbisara 2 will be helmed by VFX supervisor and ‘Romantic’ film director Anil Paduri. The remaining cast and crew has not been announced.
Kalyan Ram’s home banner NTR Arts will pool resources for this big-budget entertainer. The regular shooting will commence very soon.
