In a recent interview, political strategist Prashant Kishor claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity is waning. Kishor predicted that both the Prime Minister and the BJP would face increased protests during their third term. He suggested that despite a likely victory in the Lok Sabha elections, driven by a lower voter turnout, the BJP’s success would not be due to Modi’s popularity but rather the weakness of the opposition.
Kishor elaborated on his assertions by pointing out a significant decline in Modi’s popularity from 2014 to the present. “His own currency has been devalued. The carefully crafted image he built over the last 15 years, evolving from a Hindutva leader to a statesman, has been dented,” stated Kishor. He emphasized the steady decline in Modi’s popularity and suggested that the Prime Minister is aware of this trend.
