Renowned political strategist Prashant Kishor remarked that the BJP’s victory of 370 seats in the Lok Sabha elections was not achieved single-handedly. He cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in Parliament as an attempt to boost morale within the BJP ranks rather than a literal electoral projection. Kishor expressed optimism regarding the BJP’s prospects in West Bengal, suggesting that previous setbacks, like the Sandesh Khali incident, wouldn’t hinder the party’s performance.
He also anticipated significant BJP gains in Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Kishor cautioned that a potential BJP victory in the 2024 elections could weaken democratic institutions, echoing concerns about the concentration of power expressed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Despite opposition rule in 15 states, Kishor urged for a more cohesive approach within India’s political alliances, noting the shortcomings of past coalitions. He highlighted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent absence during a crucial period, underscoring the need for long-term strategic planning beyond the upcoming elections.
