Friday, December 5, 2025

Senior YSRCP leader and Punganur MLA Dr. Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has expressed his anger that the Chadnrababu Naidu-led coalition government is treating YSRCP leaders like Taliban and terrorists. He met his son and YCP MP Mithun Reddy, who is on remand in Rajahmundry Central Jail in the liquor scam case, through Mulakhat on Wednesday.

Later, speaking to the media, he recalled that, “The then CM Kejriwal, who removed government liquor shops in Delhi, tried to give them to private individuals and he went to jail in the scam that took place in this context”.  He alleged that a similar scam is happening in AP also presently under Chandrababu Naidu’s government.

Dr Peddireddy made it clear that after Jaganmohan Reddy returned to power, he would not set up a ‘SIT’ on all these, but would directly investigate. He deplored that since the formation of the coalition government, YSRCP leaders have been targeted and given trouble, but there is no problem. He said that if they do not follow the rules, they will approach the courts.

He said Mithun Reddy is fine and happy in jail. Accusing the state government of doing diversionary politics, he lamented, “The case against Mithun Reddy is a drama. Our government did not give permission to any distillery. Liquor control was done by increasing prices.”

Meanwhile, a sub-inspector saluted YSRCP leaders Ramachandra Reddy, Vanitha and Bharath, which led to criticism. While the YSRCP leaders were getting out of the car at the first gate of Rajahmundry jail and going inside, the a jail  staff member (SI cadre) saluted them. Moreover, they were warmly welcomed and taken inside.

Meanwhile, Rajahmundry Central Jail Superintendent Rahul expressed surprise over the court’s order to appoint an assistant in the jail for YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy. He said that the word ‘assistant’ is not in the jail manual. He said that if Mithun Reddy is provided with this facility, the rest of the prisoners will also want similar facilities.

In this context, he said that a review petition has been filed in the court on the facilities provided to Mithun. He said that arrangements have been made to provide a chair, table, TV and home-cooked meals as per the court’s orders.
