Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan has confirmed his candidacy for the upcoming assembly elections, announcing on Thursday his intention to contest from Pithapuram constituency. He emphasized that, for the time being, he has no aspirations to run for Parliament and aims solely to contest as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). This declaration was made officially by Pawan Kalyan during Jana Sena’s social media conference.
Reflecting on the party’s inception in 2014, he revealed that he had been urged to run from Pithapuram. While he received proposals to contest from Telangana as well, after careful consideration for the state’s welfare, he decided against contesting from Pithapuram. “My electoral ambitions were never my primary focus; initially, I intended to contest from the Anantapur Urban constituency, which prompted me to establish the party office there in 2014,” he remarked. In the previous elections, Pawan had contested from Bhimavaram and Gajuwaka constituencies, albeit facing defeat in both instances.
