If the ongoing reports in media circles are to be believed, Megastar Chiranjeevi will soon add another great feather to his cap. The Narendra Modi government is going to honor him with the second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan on January 26th this year for his distinguished social service during the covid pandemic.
Chiranjeevi was conferred with Padma Bhushan in 2006 for his immense contribution to Telugu Cinema and also for his charitable activities through the blood bank.
During the pandemic, Chiranjeevi voluntarily led a fundraising campaign to help the needy people of Tollywood and also launched an ambulance service to provide medical facilities. He also funded oxygen cylinders through his fan associations in all districts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Chiranjeevi’s blood bank in Hyderabad has been serving people for more than two decades. He is known for many other philanthropic deeds during dire circumstances. Besides charity, Chiru’s unwavering commitment to Telugu cinema also makes him eligible for Padma Vibhushan.
It is heard that Chiranjeevi’s name is proposed for the coveted award and the list of all those who are going to be bestowed will be announced on Republic Day.
On the work front, Chiranjeevi is currently busy with his 156th film Vishwambhara.
