OYO Revises Check-In Policy, Unmarried Couples Barred From Booking Rooms

Monday, January 6, 2025

OYO, a prominent hotel aggregator, has introduced a new check-in policy that prohibits unmarried couples from booking rooms at its partner hotels. The company announced that the revised guidelines will initially be implemented in Meerut before expanding to other cities based on feedback.

As per the new policy, all couples will be required to submit valid proof of marriage at the time of booking, either online or offline. OYO has granted its partner hotels the discretion to deny room bookings if guests fail to provide appropriate documents. The updated policy aims to enhance safety and promote responsible hospitality practices.

Pawas Sharma, North India Regional Head at OYO, stated, “We are committed to offering safe and responsible hospitality services. The new check-in policy is part of our efforts to ensure secure accommodations for families, students, and solo travelers.” He added that the policy is expected to increase customer trust and improve booking rates.

While the company highlighted the need for valid marriage proof, it has yet to clarify the specific documents that will be accepted under the new guidelines.
