Handsome hunk Varun Tej, who bagged a box office turkey with his previous offering Gandeevadhari Arjuna, did all the weightlifting for his forthcoming patriotic aerial spectacle ‘Operation Valentine’, an actioner inspired by the retaliation undertaken by the Indian Air Force on Balakot training camp in Pakistan, following the brutal bomb blast on Pulwama by militant groups in 2019. The film is slated for release on March 1st.
Varun Tej dedicated more than one month to promoting this film, a Hindi – Telugu bilingual which marks the debut of Shakti Pratap Singh Hada. This is a commendable feat by Varun considering that many heroes these days spare only a week or two for film promotions. Some actors even refuse to come out and confine themselves only to TV interviews. Varun travelled to different cities, participated in numerous events and gave many interviews to promote the film aggressively.
Operation Valentine received a big boost ahead of its release with the trailer emerging as a solid hit. The scintillating visuals and superlative production values made sure that moviegoers took notice of the film. The fact that the film was made with less than 50 crores budget became a talking point everywhere in the media circles.
Despite many films with war backdrop released in recent times including Hrithik Roshan’s latest outing Fighter, Operation Valentine team is betting big on the box office prospects because of the unique storyline and gripping screenplay. There are reports that the Indian Air Force liked the way Operation Valentine stood out from others and also appreciated the content.
Varun Tej struggled to score hits with Ghani and Gandeevadhari Arjuna. Even Anil Ravipudi’s F3, in which he played one of the lead roles along with Venky, didn’t bring much credit to him. So, he is desperate to score a big success with Operation Valentine and make a strong comeback.
