Director Sreenu Vaitla, who is past his prime in dishing out slapstick comedies, is determined to prove that there is still some mojo left in him. On the other side, Macho actor Gopichand is equally desperate to prove that he cannot be easily written off even after a string of bad films. The duo will have one last chance to strike back at the box office with their upcoming film ‘Viswam’ which is slated for release during the Dussehra festival on Friday.
Viswam is literally a make or break film for both Sreenu Vaitla and Gopichand. The box office outcome of this action entertainer will decide their future in Tollywood. They need a decent hit to revive their low lying careers and to survive for the next few years. Vaitla is once again coming up with a time tested formulaic drama packed with action and comedy. The theatrical trailer hints that Vaitla’s forte in churning out non-stop entertainment through a host of characters is still intact.
Gopichand is in quest for a big commercial success which is the only way he can stay afloat. It has been nearly a decade since he scored his last box office hit. He needs a proper success this time to make amends for all his recent failures. He looked dynamic and handsome in the trailer.
Viswam is releasing with several other films. But, the combination of Vaitla and Gopichand and also the backing of a renowned production house like People Media Factory will give an edge for Viswam despite the heavy competition. If the comedy factor and the combination clicks well, there are good chances for the film to take advantage of the festival season and perform well at the box office.
