In film industry, planning plays a key role in shaping up the career of any artist. Even if one has adequate talent and deliver a couple of big hits, the follow-up plans are very important to succeed in the long term. A few bad choices can derail a promising career. Talented actor Nikhil Siddhartha is experiencing a similar situation in Tollywood now.
Nikhil is only the fewest of actors who managed to sustain for a long period in Tollywood without any background just because of his talent and good selection of scripts. He made his debut in 2003 and carved out a niche for himself with hits like Happy Days, Yuvatha, Swamy Rara, Karthikeya and Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada. He bagged the biggest break in his career with Karthikeya 2, a sequel which emerged as a pan-India blockbuster.
The success of Karthikeya 2 gave a big filip to Nikhil’s career as he set sights on joining the next league of actors. When he appeared to climb up the ladder further with his impressive selection of scripts, a sudden string of flops upended his plans. He failed to match even half of the expectations set by himself in his last three attempts.
Films like 18 Pages and Spy, which followed after Karthikeya 2, couldn’t even recover theatrical expenses and handed over a huge embarrassment for Nikhil who grabbed the attention of pan-India audiences with his previous outing.
His latest offering Appudo Ippudo Eppudo with director Sudheer Varma is destined to end up as another box office turkey. Nikhil didn’t consider to promote the film as it was shot long back after facing numerous hurdles. Whatever may be the reasons for the timing of the release, the disastrous box result will have implications on Nikhil’s upcoming films.
He has lined up two ambitious films up next. While one of them is a mythological period drama Swyambhu, the other is historical drama titled The India House. Both films are being made on a huge budget. Nikhil needs a strong comeback with these films if he wants to compete second tier of actors.
