Neeraj Chopra has clinched India’s first silver medal at the Paris Olympics in the javelin throw event. In a competitive final, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold with a throw of 92 meters, while Neeraj Chopra recorded a throw of 89.45 meters.
Neeraj Chopra has been widely praised across the nation for his performance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already congratulated him, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh along with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami have also extended their commendations.
Despite the accolades, Neeraj Chopra acknowledged the need for further improvement. “I am pleased that our country has won a medal. However, there is room for enhancement in my performance. We will definitely discuss this further. The javelin throw event was highly competitive, and every athlete shines on their own day.

This was Arshad’s day. I gave it my all, but there are still aspects that need attention. It is disappointing not to hear our national anthem, but I am confident I will achieve this again in the future,” Neeraj Chopra remarked.
