Nani achieves a rare feat with Dasara

North America box office is one of the key territories for Tollywood as it fetches solid revenues for big-ticket films. This is the reason why the fate of a film’s overall box office status will depend on its performance there. Trade experts and industry circles also consider it as a yardstick to gauge the stamina of our heroes.

All top-league actors have numerous records on their name when it comes to North American box office. Among the second-tier actors, only Nani commands a solid market there. He has 8 of his films which collected more than $ 1 million there. With his latest offering Dasara, the Natural Star has joined the prestigious $ 2 million club in style. This is the first time Nani’s film breached the elite club which is only possible for top-tier heroes so far. Though second-tier actors like Nithiin, Varun Tej, and Vijay Devarakonda achieved this feat, Nani has set a new record because he did this with a debut director.

Nithiin’s A..Aa, Varun’s Fidaa, and Vijay’s Geetha Govindham are backed by experienced and star directors. But, Dasara is helmed by the debutant Srikanth Odhela. Moreover, Dasara is not a class film like them. Nani pulled off this rare milestone with his solid market in North America.

After a strong start with $ 638K from its premieres, Dasara slowed down a bit in the first weekend. However, it managed to surpass the $ 2 million mark by the end of the second Monday. It should be noted that this is the fourth film for Keerthi Suresh in that club after Mahanati, Agnyathavaasi, and Sarkaruvaari Paata.

Dasara emerged as the biggest hit in Nani’s career. Though it underperformed in Andhra and Cedded areas, the rustic entertainer punched out solid numbers in Naizam and North America.
