Nampally Court Directs police To File A criminal case Against Minister Konda Surekha In KTR’s Defamation suit

Friday, December 5, 2025

Creating a sensation in Telangana politics, a key development has taken place in the defamation case filed by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) executive president and former minister KTR. The Nampally court has issued orders to register a criminal case against Minister Konda Surekha. The court has made it clear that the case should be registered by August 21 and notices should be issued.

This development has led to a new debate in state politics. A few days ago, Minister Konda Surekha made serious and baseless allegations against KTR on sensitive issues such as the phone tapping case, drug dealing, and actress Samantha’s divorce controversy. These comments created a big stir in political circles.

KTR, who felt that the allegations made against him were baseless and would damage his reputation, filed a defamation case against Konda Surekha in the Nampally court. The court, which considered the defamation suit filed by KTR under Section 356 of the IPC, ordered the registration of a criminal case against Konda Surekha and issued notices.

It also directed that the notices be issued by the 21st of this month. During the hearing of the case, the lawyers representing Minister Konda Surekha raised some objections. They said that the complaint made by KTR was based on speculation and lacked proper information, as well as on issues such as the jurisdiction of the police station where the complaint was filed.

However, the court dismissed these objections. KTR’s lawyer Siddharth Pogula strongly argued that the allegations made by Konda Surekha were completely baseless and defamatory. The court agreed with these arguments and ruled that a criminal case can be registered against Konda Surekha.

This verdict has become a topic of discussion in Telangana political circles. It remains to be seen how this case will unfold in the coming days. Although it is nothing new for politicians to face defamation suits, ordering the registration of a criminal case is a rare development.
