Akkineni Nagarjuna seems to be very keen on setting up a new tradition for himself from now onwards. That is to release a film for Sankranti festival every year. This is because he scored a hat-trick of festival hits with his latest offering Naa Saami Ranga, a rustic entertainer that managed to enter the profit zone despite heavy competition during the Sankranti season.
During the success meet of Naa Saami Ranga on Sunday, Nag officially announced that he will release his next film for Sankranti 2025. He is currently working on a multi-starrer with director Sekhar Kammula and actor Dhanush. He is likely to announce his next solo project very soon and this will arrive in theatres in January next year. The details of this project will be revealed very soon. He is once again likely to come up with a mass entertainer.
Nag’s love affair with Sankranti started with Soggade Chinni Nayana which released in January 2016. The film went on to emerge as a double blockbuster at the box office because family audiences lapped it up big-time. Again after six years, he released Bangarraju during the same season in 2022. Despite COVID scare, the film had an impressive run.
The success of both these films prompted Nag to release Naa Saami Ranga for Sankranti this year at any cost. His plan worked very well as Naa Saami Ranga is the only profitable film after Hanuman.
