Veteran actor Nagarjuna praised Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, stating that the character Simon carries a heroic essence. The film is slated for release on August 14.
Speaking at the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad, Nagarjuna highlighted the importance of experimenting with diverse roles to avoid monotony in acting. Recalling his own career journey, he said that after Ninne Pelladutha, some questioned the need for Annamayya. “I have taken many risks with experimental roles. While some brought setbacks, others led to significant success,” he noted.
Nagarjuna shared that director Lokesh Kanagaraj once approached him, saying he would narrate a story only if Nagarjuna agreed to play a villain. Inspired after watching Kaithi, the actor expressed a strong desire to work with Lokesh. Upon hearing the Coolie script, Nagarjuna was intrigued by Simon’s character, which he described as “truly heroic.” He revealed that Lokesh made certain adjustments to the role during development and commended the director’s calm demeanor on set.
