Nag Ashwin has taken Indian cinema to the next level with his visionary mythological sci-fi epic, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. Starring Prabhas in the lead role with an ensemble star-studded cast including legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, along with Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam, and Shobana. The supporting cast is no less impressive, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Malvika Nair, RGV, and many others.
Following the film’s phenomenal global success, fans around the world are excitedly looking forward to its sequel. It is reported that in a recent event, Nag Ashwin was asked about when Kalki 2 is going to happen. The director responded with a witty response in his style, stating, “Last time, I said Kalki 2898 AD would release when 3-4 planets align. Now, for the sequel, it might take 7-8 planets to align.”
Although the sequel is already in the works, production is kept on hold as the team is facing scheduling hurdles due to the packed schedules of its leading cast with their next projects. Earlier, Nag Ashwin mentioned that the production might commence later this year and is expected to hit the screens by late 2026 or early 2027. Fans will have to wait and watch how the stars align for this highly anticipated sequel.
