Ram Charan’s Game Changer, a social drama based on the election system in our country in the direction of Shankar Shanmugam, has been progressing at a snail’s pace for the last couple of years. There is no clarity yet on when the film will hit the screens. One of the primary reasons for the delay is that Shankar suddenly shifted his focus towards Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 in 2022 and started sailing on two boats at a time ever since.
Game Changer was initially supposed to hit the screens in 2023. But, it was deferred indefinitely due to the prolonged shoot. It was then scheduled for release in Summer 2024. However, there is no official word so far over the exact date.
The lack of clarity from the makers stems from the fact that there is no ideal date as many other biggies like Pushpa 2, Devara, OG, and Vishwambhara have already occupied the few available festivals. Pushpa 2 confirmed August 15th as release long back. Devara team also ended the suspense recently by aiming October 10th. OG makers have locked September 27th.
Given the pending production activities, Game Changer can only release in the second half of this year. But, minimum of one big-budget film is lined up for release from August to October this year. Some more notable films might also arrive during the same period. Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara has sealed the Sankranti 2025 slot.
So, Game Changer has very little chance for release during these months. November is not a regular season for the release of big-ticket films. Hence, it is ruled out. Now, only December is the sole option available for Game Changer team. If not December, they will need to wait for Summer 2025.
The announcement of release dates by other films created more hurdles for Game Changer. The makers are now in a dilemma to pick up the best date.
