Contestants of the Miss World pageant visited the revered Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadagirigutta on Thursday evening. The participants reached the hilltop shrine via specially arranged battery-operated vehicles from the temple guest house. They took part in the Jyoti lighting ceremony held at the Akhanda Deeparadhana Mandapam.
The event saw the presence of dignitaries including family members of Government Whip Beerla Ailayya, District Additional Collector Veerareddy, Revenue Divisional Officer Krishnareddy, and Temple Assistant Executive Officer Bhaskar. Security arrangements were closely monitored by Octopus forces, Telangana Special Police, and temple SPF personnel during the visit.
In a parallel engagement, the Miss World contestants toured the village of Pochampally, famed for its tourism and traditional Ikat weaving. Welcomed warmly by local residents, the visitors representing 25 African nations expressed great interest in the unique craftsmanship of Pochampally’s Ikat sarees and their production techniques. Some contestants even personally tried their hand at saree dyeing on the loom.
