Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that the government would initiate a judicial inquiry into the corruption and damage to the barrages of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) later this week. Speaking at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, he reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to uncovering the actual reasons behind the sagging of the Medigadda barrage pier, a promise made in the party manifesto before the elections.
Responding to the demand by State BJP president and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy for a CBI inquiry into KLIP, Minister Reddy questioned the BJP-led Central Government’s inaction against the BRS Government over the past decade. He accused the BJP of supporting KLIP at the Centre and allowing the BRS Government to exploit the state under the guise of the project.
