Megastar Chiranjeevi teamed up with Anil Ravipudi for the first time for the family entertainer Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu. The film with Nayanthara in the female lead and Victory Venkatesh in a cameo created more buzz and the songs also worked well. Let's see how the film turned out in the review below.
Story:
Shankara Varaprasad (Chiranjeevi) is an NIA officer who gets separated from his wife Sasirekha (Nayanthara), a rich woman. After six years, he gets a chance to meet his children and the rest of the story is about how Prasad fixes his marriage and also saves his family from a threat.
performances:
Chiranjeevi made a good impression in MSG with his natural ease in delivering dialogues and perfect screen presence. He also does well in some emotional scenes and carries the entire film on his shoulders. Nayanthara does well as Sasirekha while Catherine Theresa, Harshavardhan, Zarina Wahab, Abhinav Gomatam, Sachin Khedekar and others are suitable. Venkatesh appears in a cameo and adds some fun.
analysis:
Director Anil Ravipudi promised that he will bring the classic megastar back on screen with Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu and he delivers on his promise. From start to finish, he presents Chiranjeevi impressively and effectively. The first half starts off solid, the hero introduction episode and song work well.
The flow goes well for a while and at times some scenes don't land as expected, but Chiranjeevi's scenes with children gradually improve and the prelude and interval sections work very well.
In the second half, the fun continues and the crucial scene between Nayanthara and Zarina Wahab is also effective, followed by the scene with Chiranjeevi and his children. The party scene followed by the song Meesaala Pilla also creates the right impact. Venky's cameo also adds some fun and the climax episode is fine.
On the other hand, the storytelling could have been better in the second half. For example, the Enter Villain track is easy and adds no threat value. Anil could have included more scenes between Chiranjeevi and the children in the second half. Expectations from Venky's performance are also high and some might be disappointed with the casual handling of his role.
Positive:
- Megastar Chiranjeevi's screen presence and comedy timing
- Entertaining moments
- Few emotional scenes
- songs
Negatives:
- Weak villain track
- Some comedy scenes don't land
- The second half is a bit flat at times
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu Review and Verdict:
Anil Ravipudi delivers a clean family entertainer by exploiting Chiranjeevi's full potential and bringing back his vintage entertainment. All songs look attractive on the screen. There are many funny moments and the action episodes are also well composed. Although there are some problems in the second half, he manages to fully assert himself.
