Kamal Haasan’s latest film, ‘Indian 2’, was released on July 12 amidst high anticipation, as the film is a sequel to 1996’s vigilante action film ‘Indian’. Despite the anticipation, it has received mixed reviews and criticism and failed to meet the expectations of fans of the original.
Five days post-release, the filmmakers announced an interesting update on their social media handles, revealing that they had trimmed 12 minutes from the initial 180-minute (3 hours) runtime for a more crisper version.
Along with a new poster, they assured fans with the message, “We heard you! “Indian 2” is now trimmed by 12 minutes! and captioned, “Witness the enhanced version of #Indian 2. Now presenting a streamlined edition trimmed by 12 min. Catch in cinemas near you for a cripser experience!”
As per the reports, the film collected 68 crores in its first 6 days. The makers believe that the crisper version of the film could achieve positive box office results, especially with no major releases scheduled for the coming week.
Helmed by Maverick director Shankar, the film is jointly backed by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. Apart from Kamal Haasan as the main lead, it also boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Vivek, SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram, Bobby Simha, and others in pivotal roles. Musical sensation Anirudh Ravichander composed the musical tunes for this flick.
