The Telangana State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Gram Panchayat, MPTC and ZPTC elections. State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudi said that the MPTC and ZPTC elections will be held first, followed by the Gram Panchayat elections. She said that the entire local body election process will be held in five phases.
She said that elections will be held in 12,733 Gram Panchayats and 1,12,288 wards. Rani Kumudi said that nominations will be accepted from October 9 for the MPTC and ZPTC seats. It was revealed that the first phase of polling will be held on October 23 and the second phase of polling will be held on October 27.
The first phase of polling for gram panchayats will be held on October 31, the second phase on November 4 and the third phase on November 8. He explained that the counting of votes will be carried out on the same day after the polling is completed.
Rani Kumudi explained that the counting of votes for MPTC and ZPTC will be held on November 11. The results of MPTC and ZPTC will be announced only after the Sarpanch elections are over. The SEC said that elections will be held for a total of 5,749 MPTC and 565 ZPTC seats. He said that 1.12 lakh polling stations have been identified for the local body elections. She said that the gazettes regarding reservations were released on Sunday evening and reservations have been finalized in all districts and mandals.
BRS Working President KT Rama Rao said that they are ready to face the local body elections. “BRS is ready to face any elections. If you look at the current situation in the state, whether it is a Galli election or a Delhi election, the situation is favorable for BRS”, he said.
“The Congress party thinks that they have forgotten the election promises they made to the people. But the people have not forgotten the trickery done by the Congress in the name of ‘guarantees’. The Congress has made promises to farmers, women, auto drivers, government employees, youth, students and people from various social groups and has cheated them badly,” KTR alleged.
