As part of the AP Nyaya Yatra, the state Congress president, YS Sharmila, continued her election campaign for the 19th consecutive day, participating in a meeting organized by the Congress party in Araku.
Addressing the gathering, Sharmila highlighted the developmental initiatives undertaken for the adivasi communities during YSR’s tenure as Chief Minister, including the provision of corporation loans and self-employment opportunities, along with the establishment of self-employment training centers. Expressing concern, she remarked, “Presently, there seems to be a lack of leadership concerned about the welfare of adivasis.”
Reflecting on the governance under both Chandrababu and Jagan, she questioned, “During the tenures of Chandrababu and Jagan, spanning a total of ten years, has there been any notable development in Araku?” Sharmila then scrutinized promises made by the current administration, particularly regarding tourism development. “Jagan pledged Rs 600 crore for tourism development. Has even a fraction of that amount been allocated? Who is accountable for Tourism Development? Roja…! She must be dynamic… But has she even visited Araku once? Not a single penny has been allocated… So, why should you vote for them?”
She further criticized unfulfilled promises from the BJP, such as the establishment of a tribal university and medical and engineering colleges. “Despite assurances, no progress has been made,” she lamented, underscoring the missed opportunities for job creation and economic growth in Araku.
