Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy today launched a few development works at Macherla, Palnadu today. He started the works of the Varikapudishela lift scheme to be constructed in Macherla.
The project is being undertaken under the YSR Palnadu drought relief scheme to eradicate drought, which will provide irrigation water to nearly 25 thousand acres and drinking water to 20 thousand people. This is said to be the first project in Andhra Pradesh to provide irrigation entirely through the pipeline.
Through this project, 1.57 TMC of water from the Krishna River will be lifted and divert backward to the hill areas. The cost of the project is Rs. 340 Crore rupees and it was supposed to supply 281 cusecs of water through a total of four pumps. After launching the project, YS Jagan addressed the huge gathering at the spot and informed them that the government is providing the welfare schemes at the largest.
