Rajahmundry: Former MP Undavalli Arun Kumar offered his perspective on Andhra Pradesh politics in his distinctive manner. He observed that both Chandrababu and Jagan seemed hesitant to challenge the Centre regarding the special category status for AP, citing their fear of legal repercussions. He emphasized that while dealing with demons or wicked individuals might be tolerable, cowardice should not be. Arun Kumar pointed out the lack of significant votes for NOTA (None of the Above) in elections, suggesting that people opt for candidates they perceive as less corrupt rather than choosing NOTA. He likened this to selecting tomatoes with fewer blemishes in a market full of imperfect ones, indicating a pragmatic approach to elections.
Regarding leaders facing legal challenges, he noted that both Chandrababu and Jagan seemed reluctant to confront the Centre due to pending cases against them. He highlighted the irony of even individuals like Kejriwal, who claims utmost honesty, facing legal scrutiny. Arun Kumar referenced cases against Sisodia, emphasizing his transformative efforts in Delhi’s government schools despite legal challenges.
He further remarked that going to jail didn’t necessarily equate to losing politically, citing examples of politicians like Revanth Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy, who still managed to garner support despite facing imprisonment. Arun Kumar suggested a prevailing sentiment that imprisonment could even bolster one’s political fortunes, as evidenced by the continued support for figures like Chandrababu.
