Hyderabad: Telangana government, through an official order effective from Saturday afternoon, has announced free travel in RTC buses for girls, women, and transgender individuals across the state. Fulfilling a pre-election commitment, the Mahalaxmi scheme now encompasses complimentary bus travel, set to commence promptly. Notably, the government order, released on Friday, extends this benefit to women on both Palle Velugu and Express buses.
Addressing the press meet, TSRTC MD Sajjanar stated that passengers can avail themselves of this offer by presenting their local identity cards. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed the release of guidelines for the Mahalakshmi scheme, scheduled for a formal launch at 1:30 pm on Saturday at the assembly premises. This pioneering decision in public transport, highlighted at the press meet, is expected to empower women and benefit the wider public.
