Andhra Pradesh government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy addressed a press briefing on May 1, responding to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s call for pension distribution at home. He criticized Chandrababu for alleging that he had sidelined volunteers from the pension distribution process.
Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy clarified that the Election Commission had mandated alternative arrangements for pension distribution, allowing those able to visit secretariats to collect their pensions while ensuring home delivery for others. These arrangements were swiftly implemented to expedite pension disbursement. However, Reddy accused Chandrababu of misconstruing the situation, asserting that the secretariat employees, totaling 120,000, were readily available for door-to-door distribution.
He condemned Chandrababu’s attempts to undermine the government’s efforts, questioning his authority to pressure the Election Commission and vilify officials through the media. He highlighted Chandrababu’s history of antagonizing the electoral process, both during his tenure as Chief Minister and presently. He emphasized that the government was working tirelessly, with secretariat staff operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., to ensure efficient pension distribution.
