LIVE: MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad Press Meet

Sunday, December 22, 2024

An MLA discontented with the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh was poised to declare his resignation today, following a meeting with his supporters. A press conference had been arranged for this purpose. However, at the last moment, during the press meet, he addressed everything but the anticipated resignation announcement. This has sparked a debate among observers, leaving them curious about what transpired. Vasantha Krishna Prasad, a Mylavaram leader and one of the few Kamma community MLAs in the YSRCP, has harbored dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership for some time.

Despite directives from the high command to criticize Chandrababu and Lokesh, who belong to his community, Vasantha refrained from doing so. The party began to suspect him, but Vasantha perceived this suspicion as an insult, asserting that doubting his loyalty was unwarranted, given his aversion to criticism and readiness to leave the party. However, at the last minute, the resignation announcement was deferred, while other criticisms remained unchanged.

Vasantha questioned his role as an MLA, stating, “Why should I be an MLA if I can’t serve the people?” He expressed a sense of helplessness in the current situation for MLAs. Furthermore, he advised the YSRCP high command against seeking revenge and urged them to govern in the spirit of YSR. Jagan himself raised doubts about trusting those who did not criticize Chandrababu and Lokesh, emphasizing that those who refrain from opposing the opposition leaders would not be given party tickets.
