Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced the formation of a Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for TS Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees, ensuring a 21% fitment from the following month. The decision, eagerly awaited by approximately 42,057 employees over eight years, will result in an average salary increase ranging between Rs. 6,500 and Rs. 11,000 per individual. This enhancement will extend to 11,014 employees scheduled to retire on April 1, easing their transition into retirement.
Minister Prabhakar highlighted that this move would impose an additional annual expenditure of Rs. 418 crore on the state’s finances, noting the lack of PRC initiatives by the previous administration over the past eight years. In a media interaction at Bus Bhavan, Minister Prabhakar celebrated the overwhelming response to the Maha Lakshmi scheme, facilitating free travel for women. With 24.16 crore women already availing the benefit of zero ticket fare, the government intends to expand the scheme’s impact by adding 2,515 new buses to the corporation’s fleet by May’s end.
