Hyderabad: In a comprehensive session on Sunday, the Telangana State Cabinet announced a series of impactful decisions aimed at addressing key issues and reshaping the state’s identity. The approved measures include the provision of free power and subsidized Rs 500 LPG cylinders, alterations to the Telangana Talli statue and State emblem, and a change in the vehicle registration prefix from TS to TG. Additionally, the Cabinet endorsed the crucial move for a Caste Census. IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy addressed the media, revealing plans to implement two more guarantees from the Six Guarantees during the upcoming Assembly session starting on February 8.
The decision-makers expressed the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the public. Srinivas Reddy criticized the previous administration for politically motivated changes, particularly in the vehicle registration prefix, which will now be reverted to TG. The Telangana Talli Statue will undergo modifications to better align with the aspirations of the people, with public opinions and expert insights factored in. Similarly, adjustments to the State emblem will be made to authentically represent the aspirations of Telangana’s citizens. As part of the announced initiatives, the State government approved a Caste Census, emphasizing the importance of tailored welfare schemes.
The Cabinet also designated the renowned song “Jaya Jaya he Telangana, Janani Jaya ketanam” by Ande Sri as the State song, acknowledging its significant role during the Telangana movement. Among other decisions, the Cabinet established the Kodangal Area Development Authority (KADA) to oversee comprehensive development, with Kodangal as its headquarters. Furthermore, 65 ITI colleges will be upgraded to Advanced Technology Centres, offering courses aimed at enhancing youth employability.
